PidginSnarl notifications
Hi All,
How to configure the maximum number of notifications that can be
displayed at a time for pidgin. I did not find a setting to do that.By default its indefinite I guess, because when there was network
failure in my office, my whole screen got flooded with notifications
saying "X Signed Off" , "Y Signed Off" for all the people (of my
office) who were there in my buddy list. There should be a setting to configure this.
Thanks

ThunderSnarl: Lightning
Click on a lightning notification (event alert) should automatically (or at least allow to) dismiss it

It’s planned for the next release (even the localization is already embedded in 1.0) but I had to postpone this feature to finally ship 1.0. So planned for 1.1

pidginSnarl - stall "user logged out" message
For various reasons some users drop offline and online (it might be rebooting, changing client etc) which creates "user logged out"-messages quickly followed by "user logged in".
I'm suggesting a mode where it stalls showing the "logged out"-message by 10-15 seconds. If the user hasn't logged back on in this time, the logged out-message will be shown, but if the user returns, the message will be drawn back.
Simply, I'm suggesting a way to skip the messages which might be unwanted. The idea could probably be refined. :)

Option to be notified about specific buddies in Pidgin instead of all of them.
Currently notifications apply to all buddies on your buddy list. It would be great if I could just specify notifications for only certain buddies. With a large buddy list, notifications for every single person can be distracting. I'm only interested in being notified about certain people. Thanks.

We (and yes, in this case I am not alone :) are now figuraing out how to deal with the plugins config section in Pidgin and when (if…) we figure it out we will add such a functionality

PidginSnarl: have maximum number of notifications at one time
Right now, when logging into Pidgin the screen will fill completely with notices entered in a continuous chat. This interferes with other windows for a significant amount of time. It seems the only way to prevent this is putting Snarl into Do Not Disturb mode on startup (or not having it start automatically at all). Limiting the number of PidginSnarl notifications displayed at once would solve the problem.

Thundersnarl: allow different sounds to be defined for each folder
Useful when filters are used to sort new mail into folders and skip the inbox. Have different sounds for folders, or none eg, routine mail (newsletters) can be sorted into filters without sound. Mails filtered into special/priority folders get distinctive sound

IRC channel name in notifications
Hi, I'm starting to use pidginsnarl mostly for IRC. I don't see the name of the IRC channel in the notifications. Is it possible to show this in the popup?
Thanks! David6 votes -
PidginSnarl: disable when away
I would be nice if Pidgin stopped sending Snarl notifications when I set my status to away. Sometimes I just want to get work done and don't want friends to IM me, the snarl notification is kinda distracting.

Did you notice the “Do not disturb”-mode of Snarl (see context menu of its tray icon?

Thundersnarl: Provide freeform macro for short folder name (like Inbox)
Several versions ago, there was a value for the 'freeform' notification called %originalfolder, which contained just the name of the folder in it, like "Inbox", or "Banking". The %folder macro gives the long folder name, and looks like "imap://username@mailserver/Folder". Can you make %originalfolder available again?

Yes, I remember that setting. The interface within Thunderbird changed between TB 1 and 2 and the available information did so too.
But I think I can parse the long string by myself and give you access to a shorten one. Planned for next update now

PidginSnarl: On Login notifications
Until now you have "... on startup" classes to avoid flooding on Pidgin start. As alternative some classes for "... on login" would be great to catch those fired when you log in later to an account

I really understand you want to have it but as the API is limited in this case we would need to create quite an amount of new code to detect this case ourself.
Anyway as this would be lovely feature I set status to planned for the next bigger coding round on PidginSnarl

Gmail Notifier
I like the Gmail Notifier for Snarl but I'd like to suggest using the gmail icon as the tray icon & have it change color on new mail. That way you can tell if there is new mail if you weren't at the computer when the snarl notify popped up. With the current icon the change on new mail isn't easy to see . If you use the Gmail envelope icon you could do blue or red for new mail & grey when there is no new mail.

Makes 100% sense and I will add this with the next release. But to be sure with Copyright I think I will take different icons – but you will see if there are new or not :)

open in new window option for rss items
It would be great to have the option to click on a snarl notification for a single rss item to open it in a new window. Or even better, open it in the main window. Because "focus the main window" does not actually open the item in the main window. Otherwise, thundersnarl is brilliant.

Allow users of FileSystemSnarl to persist settings across reboots
I love this plugin, I use it at work to monitor various parts of our shared filestore.
I never switch my PC off, but Windows Update reboots my machine every so often. When this happens, I need to re-enter my settings for 4-5 instances of FileSystemSnarl.
If there was a way I could specify settings in a config file, via command line switches or some other method I would not need to go through this procedure this every time.

I already started with that 4 months ago but somehow lost track on going forward.
Plans for a 2.0 are memorized settings, an installer and a cleaner design. I already did most of the persistence settings stuff but as I did it 4 months ago can’t remember right now where I stopped. You could get
-(see comments) and put those files into your FileSystemSnarl folder and let me know which settings are memorized – and which I missed until now. Will then have a look this weekend I hope to add the missing parts… -

investigate a memory leak
I am fairly certain that the latest version of PidginSnarl has a memory leak. I have closely observed Pidgin's behavior with and without the plugin enabled and its memory usage sky rockets only when PidginSnarl is enabled. Within one 24 hour period the memory usage can go up as high as 100 mb. Eventually it causes Pidgin to crash.
I am using the Pidgin 2.6.4, GTK 2.14.7, and PidginSnarl 2.0.
